In the legendary Battle of Troy, the Greeks retreated from their siege of the city and left a large wooden horse where they had been. The Trojans wheeled the massive horse into the city as a trophy—only to wake up that night to the sound of Greeks pouring out of the horse, opening the city’s gates, and slaying the inhabitants. Today, the resurgence of the philosopher Plato and his forms of thought offer a gift to the church by way of categories and concepts to better understand the world. But what kind of gifts are these?
