The nations rage and the peoples scheme. All the while, our God looks on from heaven and laughs. Why? Because the strongest armies on earth storm the gates of heaven with children’s weapons. The unshakeable kingdom of God stands undaunted in the face of such attacks, and on the last day, it alone will remain. Still, God’s kingdom does not go forth like the kingdoms of this world. It grows not by the compulsion of the sword, but by the confession of capital T Truth. Indeed, our servant-king sends forth the word of his gospel, which declares to all that his nail-pierced hands hold the power to save and to judge. And in this month’s theme, we devote our time to considering the Kingdom of God and his Christ, the Lord who reigns over all.
