In the spring of 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, delivering a momentous victory for Life. This decision put the onus on states to decide their own abortion laws. Millions prayed for and fought for this. Republicans campaigned on such a promise for fifty-plus years.
Since the Dobbs decision in 2022, the pro-life movement was the dog that caught the car—and had no plan for what came next. The ideological Left did have one. Since Dobbs, the Left has introduced amendments to sixteen state constitutions to allow unlimited, unrestricted abortion for anyone—including minors—up until the moment of birth, without any medical, parental, or state oversight. Only three of the sixteen have failed. The states that have abortion enshrined in their state constitutions as of January 2026 include Kansas, Montana, Missouri, Arizona, Ohio, Michigan, New York, California, Colorado, and others.1

Even several red states have enshrined constitutional rights to abortion because of these amendments, with no ability for their state legislatures to restrict it at all—even late-term abortions or even to require parental consent. In these states, a lot of Republican voters voted for abortion. A lot of weekly church attendees voted for abortion. Exit polling in Ohio suggested that about a third of weekly church-attending conservatives voted for the abortion amendment.2

Over the last fifty years, support for abortion has risen to the point that even some devout Christians support it. Tens of billions of dollars have been spent on an effective propaganda machine convincing legions of people, mostly women, that abortion is necessary. The propaganda is working, and now women are the vanguard of abortion support. According to Pew Research, 64% of women—and 61% of men—say abortion should be legal in all or most cases.3

The passage of these amendments represented real lives lost. Where these amendments passed, states saw an increase in abortions over the next year. Ohio, for example, saw a 13% increase in abortions—3,500 more children killed—the year after they passed a constitutional right to abortion up to twenty-three weeks. That is thousands of lives lost in every single state when an abortion amendment passed.
Virginia’s 2026 Abortion Amendment
Virginia is now staring down the barrel of its own abortion amendment later in 2026. The Commonwealth’s state legislature just passed an amendment to our constitution that would put Virginia’s abortion policy to the left of even California.
The language first defines an “individual’s” right to “reproductive freedom” which “shall not be infringed upon.” By granting any “individual,” a right to an abortion and the vague phrasing of “reproductive freedom,” they have backdoored gender identity and transgender issues into our state constitution. Planned Parenthood, for example, defines “gender affirming care” as reproductive freedom.
This amendment also eliminates any ability to enforce basic health and safety standards on abortion clinics. It would remove the requirements that doctors perform abortions, opening abortions to be performed by anyone, and would then protect those performing abortions from malpractice lawsuits.
It also would invalidate Virginia’s requirement of parental consent for a minor to get an abortion. In the city of Fairfax, Centreville High School facilitated abortions for two minors, pressured them into it, hid this from the parents, and then covered up both incidents. This would be legal and commonplace if this amendment passes.
Finally, it also allows for abortion up until and including partial birth abortion.4 This would move abortion policy in Virginia to the wild west.

Virginia is also preparing to pass a constitutional amendment which would change Virginia’s definition of marriage from a man and a woman to two individuals. It would give the right for someone to marry anyone. This amendment also separates the terms “sex” and “gender” which would enshrine gender identity ideology into the State constitution.
These two amendments go forward to the voters this year, in either April or November (election date has not been voted on).
If a majority of Virginian voters vote yes, this abortion amendment and marriage amendment will be enshrined into our state constitution.
We Must Take a Stand
We’ve witnessed a culture of death cemented into law, state after state. We cannot allow another state to fall under its shroud of darkness. A stand must be made. It is our duty to stand on biblical truth and fight against the darkness.
Most Virginian voters don’t even know these amendments are coming up. The Family Foundation will be waging a full-scale campaign to educate the public and give them good reasons to vote against these amendments.5 This will require millions of dollars.

Planned Parenthood and several Leftist groups have tens of millions they will spend crafting a glitzy message to deceive the public into voting yes. They will lie. They will twist the truth to suit their needs. This strategy worked in several states, like Ohio and Michigan. One of their most tried and true lies to convince voters to vote for unlimited abortion is confusing miscarriages and abortion. They lie and say, “if this amendment doesn’t pass, women won’t get miscarriage care and will die.”
In Virginia, there are over 8,700 churches. There are roughly 2.2 million weekly church attendees in Virginia. In the 2025 election, Spanberger received almost 2 million votes, winning by more than 500,000 votes.
The Church is a powerful force that could swing an entire election—what if it were mobilized this year to the polls?
Most churches in Virginia of every denomination are populated by everyday, God fearing Virginians who have not been informed about this amendment. I believe it is the duty of every pastor to provide their flock with moral clarity on these issues.
What Can You Do about These Amendments?
First, tell the pastors you know and have influence over these amendments.6 Share this information. Ask them to share it with their congregations and communities. Ask them to go vote and to vote against evil and for life.

Second, talk about it in the public. Inform your public what is happening in Virginia and ask them to take a stand against it. Use your voice on the internet, podcasts, and on social media. Wherever you command an audience, provide moral clarity to these people and call them to action.
Third, get involved. Ask your Virginian pastors to volunteer with our Church Ambassador Network and reach other pastors and congregations or connect to the Family Foundation’s campaign to find out how you can volunteer.7
7. Family Foundation Action, “Resources.”
Ask those interested to sign up for our email list so that they can receive updates on the campaign, information about upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities.
Fourth, help us raise the money necessary to get our message out to a wide audience. Money is the lifeblood of a successful campaign, and we will need lots of it to be successful. You can donate here.8

Fifth, pray. We believe in the power of prayer. Pray that God delivers us from the hand of The Enemy. Pray that we vanquish evil and that voters make a wise choice. Pray that our work is blessed.
Conclusion
In Judges 6:13, we see a conversation between Gideon and the Angel of the Lord. “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
“The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
God made a promise to Gideon that he would be with him and no matter how vast the armies were arrayed against him, he would be victorious. When Gideon asked him why these horrible things had happened to the people of God, God answered “Am I not sending you?”
When we ask where the Church was when the forces of Darkness perpetuated a genocide of the unborn, the answer should be “Am I not sending you?”
