God (B)less America: The United States at 250
We love the United States of America: its Christian heritage, cultural forms, spirit of liberty, and abundance of opportunity. But how did thirteen colonies become a global superpower? And why would some Americans refuse to sing that they are “proud to be an American?” Birthdays are a time for reflection and celebration, and this month we will tour our nation’s history, challenges, strengths, and weaknesses, even as we seek God’s continued mercy and renewal. May God bless America on her birthday, and may He continue to shed his grace on this remarkable land, from sea to shining sea.
